I am a dermatologist with a Doctorate of Medicine and a university lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at \u2018Carol Davila\u2019 University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. In addition to an extensive medical teaching career, I am also a scientific researcher at the Department of Ultrastructural Pathology for the \u2018Victor Babe\u0219\u2019 National Institute of Pathology in Bucharest.<\/p>\n

Dermatology is the branch of medicine that comprises the physiology (health) and pathology (disease) of the integumentary system, commonly known as our skin. The field also includes understanding the skin together with the epidermal facets of nails and hair.<\/p>\n

The skin, the cutaneous organ, represents in quantifiable terms, the largest, most extended, heaviest organ of the human body. Moreover, the skin is located at the periphery of our body and represents our interface with the surrounding world. These are just a few characteristics that give the skin a series of functions: mechanical barrier, endocrine function, exocrine function, metabolic function, and social function.<\/p>\n

The loss or disturbance of the structural, functional, or metabolic integrity of the skin, partially or totally, leads to various dermatological pathologies, some with serious repercussions on the whole person and their state of health. In addition, our social relationships are favored, to some extent, by the appearance of our skin. Because of this, I think it's safe to say that skin that looks good is skin that gives you (at least in some situations) some advantages.<\/p>\n

The prevention of skin disease constitutes a significant share of dermatological activity. Dermatology covers a myriad of several thousand distinct dermatological conditions and circumstances, between which the threshold of detection is sometimes extremely subtle, almost imperceptible clinically, or sometimes ambiguous even to dermoscopy. Often, for a correct dermatological diagnosis to choose an optimal, targeted, and effective therapeutic approach to treat the skin condition in question, it is necessary to biopsy the skin with a secondary dermatopathological examination. <\/br>\n<\/br>\nWith the experience I\u2019ve gained in my comprehensive teaching and research activities of the structural and ultrastructural cutaneous morphology and my collaboration with reputable dermato-pathologists, I have gained the expertise to interpret the biopsies performed and make an informed decision on the investigated cases.<\/br>\n<\/br>\nIn addition to my broad clinical experience in the diagnosis, prevention, and management of dermatological and venereological pathologies, I also work on the effective management of various structural, chromatic, physiological and pathological textural skin defects - this statement is supported by the more than 25.000 treated cases.<\/br>\n<\/br>\nEvery patient is unique, and a full day of consultations presents complex medical examinations with varied dermatological problems. In addition to the phenotypic features presented and their genotypic background, communication with the patient and their relatives is key to making a good diagnosis. <\/br>\n<\/br>\nWith the trust of each patient, I believe it is my duty to be super-specialized, always up to date with the latest topics and approaches in the field, adapted to the most recent working protocols.
